Ablitt Flower

  • The Ablitt Flower was designed specifically for the Ablitt Tower in downtown Santa Barbara and can be found throughout the building. It was the first of the original tile designs.

  • Cement tiles (also called encaustic tiles) are handmade tiles created from cement, marble dust, and mineral pigments, not fired clay. Each tile is individually hand-poured and pressed, making every piece unique. This centuries-old European and Latin American craft creates vibrant, durable surfaces with colors that go all the way through the tile, not just on the surface.

Care & Maintenance: Cement tiles require sealing to protect against stains and moisture. Once properly sealed, they're easy to maintain with pH-neutral cleaners and regular mopping. Avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus, bleach). These tiles develop a beautiful patina over time, which is part of their charm and character.

The Ablitt Flower Tile was the first of Jeff’s original designs to be created in cement tile. Since then, nearly every project has incorporated tiles made specifically for the building.
